Appointed KGB chief in 1967, he became a full member of the Politburo in 1973. His firm handling of dissident movements enhanced his reputation, enabling him to be chosen as Brezhnev's successor in 1983, but he died after less than 15 months in office. Printed greeting card with a message in Russian, 7.5 x 3.75, signed at the bottom in blue ballpoint. In fine condition.
