One of the most important Japanese authors of the 20th century who committed ritual suicide to protest the Westernization and military weakness of postwar Japan (1925–1970). Scarce ANS in English, signed “Yukio Mishima,” inside an attractive 6.5 x 6 Christmas card featuring traditional Japanese artwork, no date but circa 1952. A note sent to author John B. L. Goodwin. In full: “Thank you very much for sending of your subtle and flaming novel ‘The Idols and the Prey’ which brought me over to that mysterious tropical island again.” A central vertical crease, otherwise fine condition.
