Boxer who held the world title for the shortest period of time. The referee, Harry Ertle, called the 1924 fight, Stribling vs. McTigue, a draw. When the crowd grew ugly, Ertle, thinking he might be in danger, gave the decision to Stribling. Then, when he was on a train and safely on his way out of Georgia, Ertle announced that McTigue had won the fight. Stribling was 19 years old at the time. Choice vintage fountain pen signature, “W. L. Stribling Jr,” on a 3.25 x 1.75 white card. In very fine condition. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
