<B>Yoruba (Nigeria)</B></I><BR>Tray for Ifa Divination, <I>opon ifa</B></I><BR>Wood, patination<BR>Height: 11 ½ inches Width: 11 ¼ inches Depth: 1 3/8 inches<BR><BR>This squared tray has one infrequently found feature: at each of the four corners the border décor goes around the bend. Into this L-shaped space are fitted four similar but differently clad, shortened frontal figures. The intervening spaces on the three sides not occupied by Eshu's face are filled by pairs of human figures in a variety of postures. The condition is good.<BR><BR> Provenance: Thomas D.
