Lot of 5 Yellow Aster Mining and Milling Co. checks/receipts & revenue stamp. The checks are dated 1900 and 1902 and datelined Randsburg, Cal., and signed by Singleton president and Burcham secretary. Vignette of the Yellow Aster mill at left edge. Checks printed on yellow paper. This was one of the most important gold mines of the late 19th century in Southern California. In 1895, three prospectors, John Singleton, Fred Mooers and Charles Burcham, located the claims and named if after the famous Rand Mining district in South Africa.
