A view of several buildings, numbered, likely including stamp mills, miner's living quarters, and mine offices. On a hillside on the left are 10 numbered areas, probably mines or claims. The lithograph measures 7 1/4 x 4 3/4", mounted on an off-white matte measuring 10 x 8". The front of the matte is attached to the backing by tape in three places. Both the lithograph and matte are in very fine condition. "A.L. Bancroft & Company, Printers. San Francisco, 1884" is printed on page attached to the reverse of the backing. Hand printed in pen on the top of the page is written "Original Lithograph Removed From A Disbound Copy Of:" Below the heading is printed "The Resources of Arizona, Its Mineral, Grazing, And Timber Lands; Its History, Climate, Productions, Civil And Military Government, Pre-Historic Ruins, Early Missionaries, Indian Tribes, Pioneer Days, Etc., Etc. Third Edition. Revised and Enlarged, With New Map and Illustrations. By Patrick Hamilton." The word "illustrations" is underlined twice in similar ink used in the writing of the headline above. The Turkey Creek mining district, located in Yavapai County, is about twenty miles southeast of Prescott. (Ref: southwest.library.arizona) The author of the piece from which the lithograph was removed, Patrick Hamilton, was a commissioner originally appointed to collect and prepare information of value concerning the AZ Territory. His original work was due by January 1, 1882 (likely the first edition), while the current piece is listed as the third edition and is dated 1884. (Ref: books.google.com/patrick hamilton)
