Yaozhou Ware

Yaozhou is a type of Song ‘greenware’, also known as ‘Northern celadon’. The Yaozhou kilns were among the most famous ‘celadon’ kilns in China and flourished during the Northern Song Dynasty. Yaozhou ware is characterized by a slightly translucent olive green glaze over a light gray body. Typical vessels of Yaozhou celadon porcelain were green glazed bowls, plates, saucers, glasses, vases, small bottles and cups, which were decorated with dragons, phoenixes or floral patterns. The decoration was usually incised or impressed.

Condition: The bowl is in good condition with light signs of age and partially manufacturing flaws and traces of fly ash to the glaze. The diameter is 10.5 cm and height is 4.5 cm here.
