What's the difference between a cuspidor and
a spittoon? According to the American
Heritage Dictionary, spittoons are usually
metal. This is RARE YELLOW WARE pottery so we will call it a
cuspidor. (According to the same
source, the word is derived from the
Portugese cuspire to spit, which of
course devolved from Latin).

You can pass along this fascinating data
to any friends or family who admire this piece
in your home. It has a ribbed body and the
flared lip is molded with cockle shells. If you
don't chew, it will make a great
planter.

7-1/4 diameter, 4-1/2 inch high.

other damage.
No manufacturer marks.
