Some extra rare photographs and 3x business cards from La Porte: 1) Photograph of the logging team in 1885, at Squier's sawmill near Whiskey, picturing 9 men. 1860 handwritten Census list of the men pictured on the back, including the owner Wm. Squier, who was also a shoemaker, mentioned in the business registry of La Porte from 1868-1885. Picture was taken by G.H. Schubert, who was a prominent photographer in La Porte. In 1864 he gave out coupons for special offers on cabinet photos and large hand-colored portraits, he also took photos of main street in La Porte and did portraits, even of himself. He operated a photography studio and variety store on Main street from 1880 to 1900. [Ref.: ROTM by J.E. Garvis, pp. 70-71, pp. 543-547] 2) Picture postcard titled "View near La Porte", showing a road in the forest, stamped on Dec 12, 1907 in La Porte , CA. Addressed note to Miss Eva Cayot, Genesee, Plumas County, CA. Adhesive 1 cent green Franklin stamp in top right corner. Eva Cayot is mentioned to have attended the 50th anniversary celebration of the Native daughters of the Golden West on May 22, 1921. [Ref.: ROTM by J.E. Garvis, pp. 105] 3) 3x Business cards of Mrs. Maxwell & Son, resident agents for The Liverpool & London & Globe Ltd Insurance Company, La Porte.
