X-Men II Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) Hero Claws
The one striking image that personifies the Wolverine franchise, both in the Graphic Novels, and the spectacularly successful films is his iconic claws. They have become the instantly recognizable "logo" of not only Wolverine himself, but the entire XMEN universe. Wolverine, (aka Logan or James Howlett) is a mutant who is impervious to disease, can heal his own wounds and avoid aging. The claws are part of his skeletal structure which consists of the strongest metal on Earth (at least in the Marvel Comic World), called Admantium. This metal was originally bounded to his bones by Weapon X, an evil government agency. The claws extend from each of Wolverine's forearms through the spaces between his knuckles. They are his supreme weapons, and can cut through anything on Earth. These are a very special pair of "claws". They were personally hand crafted by the legendary Jimmy Gawley (aka "Jimmy Claws") who has designed and constructed every pair of claws since the beginning of the series of films. Per discussions with Mr. Gawley himself, all the parts used to create these claws comes from actual original production Wolverine claws that he crafted for Hugh Jackman for "X-Men 2", and were on set (but never used on screen). This specially assembled set by Mr. Gawley was made for display and are not "camera ready". The blades were struck from the original actual molds used for the screen used claws as well. The bases on both sets of claws have the "FXSMITH CANADA" stamp, along with the markings of "R" for the right and "L" for the left in "Sharpie" ink, along with the adjusting Phillips screw circled (left screw for the Right claw, and right screw for the Left claw). The right claw also has the red tape on the base for easy identification. They come with a photo verified Certificate of Authenticity from Jimmy Claws, signed by himself both as James Gawley and as Jimmy Claws. The pair have three claws each with base. The claws themselves are made of special molded plastic and are approx. 10.5".
