In part: “I am writing this letter to encourage you to pursue your interest in the space; even if you have some physical limitations there are limitless areas of interesting and challenging research…I am enclosing a picture of the X-15 rocket research airplane, which…I flew to an altitude of 307,000 feet, over 58 miles high.”; and a glossy 10 x 8 photo of Dana and his plane, signed and inscribed in black felt tip to the letter’s recipient.
