Anatole France
French author (1844–1924) who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1921. Untranslated ALS in French, one page, 6 x 7.75, Editions d’Art Edouard Pelletan letterhead, no date but annotated April 18, 1909 in pencil. In fine condition.

James M. Cain
American novelist (1892–1977) best known as the author of such crime/noir classics as The Postman Always Rings Twice and Double Indemnity. TLS, one page, 6 x 9.5, The Shoreham letterhead, March 1, 1947. Letter to William Tang, in full: “Appreciation is hereby extended for your review of ‘The Butterfly.’ I found it very understanding, and accordingly enjoyed reading it. Some day, not too far distant, I hope to see it under the well known hemispheric imprimatur.” In fine condition.

Max Pemberton
British mystery and adventure novelist (1863–1950). TLS, one page, 8 x 10, Heathcote letterhead, November 12, 1900. Letter to John Foster Fraser. In full: “Your support on Friday next at the Dinner which The Whitefriars is giving to our friend Sir Weyms Reid would be considered a great favor.” In fine condition.
