World's Finest Comics #3 (DC, 1941) CGC VF- 7.5 Off-white pages. A 7.5 copy is quite impressive for this particular square bound book -- none has been graded higher than 8.5 as of this writing. This issue's got the first appearance of the Scarecrow, which is a much bigger deal than it used to be now that he scared the living heck out of America in the movie "Batman Begins." The villain's origin is also in this issue, in a story drawn by Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson. Also of note are the Sandman's debut in this series, and stories with Superman and Johnny Thunder. The CGC slab says "Jack Burnley cover," Overstreet says Fred Ray, and in this case we lend more credence to the latter.Overstreet 2006 VF 8.0 value = $2,139. CGC census 2/06: 2 in 7.5, 4 higher. From the Collection of Harold Curtis.
