Military identification tag from the First World War, belonging to a Canadian soldier named Harvey from the 36th Battalion with the service number 2330. 35 mm, round, holed. World War One Canadian dog tags were made from aluminum, but by August 1914, were replaced with red fiber discs made of vulcanized asbestos and synthetic rubber. The discs were designed to be broken in half, with one piece remaining with the body and the other sent to command.
