World War II Winchester Manufactured M1 Carbine

This is an excellent example of a WWII M1 carbine manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms, that was subsequently rebuilt early after the end of WWII and which has remained in that original unaltered postwar condition. These post WWII rebuilt carbines that are still in the original condition are very difficult to find today and certainly have a place in any major M1 Carbine collection. Most of these have had the parts all switched around by collectors to make them original, thereby degraded their value. This carbine was manufactured late 1943, and probably saw heavy combat and was completely rebuilt by Springfield Armory after WWII. The receiver has the original Winchester markings over the serial number "1179755". It was fitted with a Inland Div/General Motors marked barrel, dated "12-43", and has a standard low wood stock with oval cutout, marked on the left side with a boxed "SA/SHM" cartouche, with a two rivet handguard. It has mixed maker parts, with a type three barrel band/bayonet lug marked "SA", blued flat bolt and Inland marked trigger guard. Standard unmarked front sight with an milled, adjustable rear sight marked "PI", on the side, with a blued flat bolt. This carbine does not include any magazine.

Fine with 98% of the arsenal refurbished parkerized finish. The stock and handguard are near excellent with only a few minor scratches/handling marks on the side. The cartouche is partially stamped but is clear and visible. A nice looking WWII carbine.
