Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1903 Pocket Hammerless
Colt Model 1903 Hammerless Pocket Automatic Pistol with Colt factory letter that states the pistol was shipped from Colt to the "United States. Government" on February 26, 1942 and confirms configuration. The slide has the early style half-moon shaped front sight and rounded rear sight. "U.S. PROPERTY" is roll-stamped in small letters (31/32" X 5/64") on the right side of the frame. The left side of the frame is stamped with the serial number "557027". The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the Ordnance final inspection mark "W.B." in a rectangle above the Colt Triangle/"VP" proofmark. The "W.B." inspection mark was only applied to Model 1903 pistols in 1942. A "T" assembly mark is stamped on the left rear of the trigger guard bow near the grip. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the two-line Hartford address and 1897 and 1903 patent dates with the Rampant Colt trademark behind the slide serrations. The pistol is complete with a parkerized cleaning rod, instruction sheet and Ordnance cardboard carton. The carton is not serial numbered to the pistol. Only 6700 of the approximately 17,300 U.S. Contract Model 1903 Hammerless Pocket Pistols had the Colt commercial blue finish. U.S. Model 1903 Pistols with a blue finish and "W.B." inspection mark are scarce.
BBL: 3 3/4 Inch
Stock:
Gauge: 32 Colt auto
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 557027
Condition:
Excellent. The pistol retains 95% plus of the original blue finish. The pistol has a few scattered and very minor handling and storage marks and some light edge wear on the front of the slide. All of the markings are crisp. The reproduction carton and instruction sheet are both in fine condition. This is an excellent example of a very desirable U.S. Contract Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless Pistol with commercial blue finish and "W.B." Ordnance final inspection mark.
