Estimate: $1400 - 2250
Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1911
Manufactured by Colt in 1918. This pistol is one of the often called "Black Army" pistols because of the coarse "brush" wartime dark blue finish that appears almost black. Standard two line, two block marking with the Rampant Colt in the middle of the markings. The right side has the single line marking of "MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY" and the right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number. The "eagle head/S17" proof is above the magazine release on the left side of the frame. The frame has the late WWI checkered slide stop, thumb safety and wide spur hammer, flat main spring housing with a two tone magazine marked with the letter "R" on top of the toe and lanyard ring heel of the frame. Fitted with checkered walnut grips.

Fine. The pistol retains 40% original blue/black finish mixed with brown and gray patina. The grips are good with a few minor dings and dents, and some wear on the otherwise crisp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
