World War II U.S. Army Remington Model 1903A4 Sniper Rifle Complete with Original Weaver 330 Scope

This is an excellent example of a WWII Model 1903A4 Sniper Rifle made by the Remington Arms Company that was manufactured in the second block of serial numbers. These rifles were originally issued from 1943-45, then again in Korea and even into the early part of Vietnam. This is the same type of rifle, portrayed in the excellent WWII epic movie; "Saving Private Ryan". The receiver is correctly marked in two blocks on the left and right sides of the receiver as follows; "U.S./REMINGTON/MODEL 03-A3" and serial number "4996073".The top of the barrel is marked "RA/Ordnance Bomb/5-44" and the rifle was correctly made without the front sight. It has a WWII Redfield style scope base that is complete with an early commercial/WWII era, Weaver 330 sniper scope. The scope has the later style "post" cross-hair reticle with the nomenclature plate marked: "MODEL 330/PATS. PEND./W.R. WEAVER CO./EL. PASO TX.". The rifle has all the correct stamped components; trigger guard and barrel bands with an original blued sniper rifle bolt assembly. The bolt is stamped with a small "R" on the underside of the bolt handle. The stock is a late war scant stock made by the Keystone Company, that is marked in the cutout with a capital letter "K". The left side of the stock is stamped with a "RA/FJA" inspector mark, next to a Cross-Cannon cartouche with an additional "RA-P" rebuild cartouche. There is a circled "P" proof on the inside of the pistol grip with a second small "P" below that.

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 90% of the faded parkerized finish remaining overall. The stock is also in very fine condition also having been lightly refurbished, showing minor handling marks. The Weaver scope retains 90% of the blued finish overall showing thinning and scratches on the body of the scope. The optics are clear with an intact reticle. A nice example of a desirable WWII sniper rifle.
