World War II U.S. Army Contract Springfield Armory M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle

This is a very nice example of a mid-WWII U.S. Army contract, M1 Garand rifle as manufactured by Springfield Armory in late 1943. The rifle has a standard WWII Springfield Armory receiver markings with the barrel marked" 3-S-A-4-43 "with a small, single "P" proof at the end of the markings. The bolt is the correct WWII version marked: "D28287-12SA", with a correct unmodified wartime operating rod marked"D35382-6-SA". The trigger housing is also marked "D28290-12-SA" and it is fitted with a milled trigger guard. It is fitted with the locking bar rear sight set with a wartime gas cylinder and gas cylinder lock. It is fitted with a GI walnut stock and handguard set that has a single "SA/EMcF" cartouche and a single "P" proof in the grip area. It is complete with a nickel plated oiler in the butt trap compartment.

Manufacture: Springfield Armory U.S.
Model: M1
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30-06
Finish: parkerized
Grips:
Serial Number: 1571573

Very Fine with 90% plus of the original parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with finish loss on the sides of the receiver and top of the bolt from cycling the action, and the buttplate. The refurbished gas cylinder shows some light thinning of the finish. The stock and handguards are in fine condition with a nice dark finish showing handling marks and pressure dents overall with slightly more pressure dents/gouges on the right rear of the buttstock. A nice representative example of a WWII M1 Garand rifle.
