World War II Type 99 Japanese Rifle with Type 99 Sniper 4X Scope and Case

An early WWII Japanese Type 99 rifle that has been fitted with an original Japanese Type 99 sniper scope and mount. The receiver has the intact Royal Chrysanthemum with one small strike over the Kana markings. Attached to the left side of the receiver is a very nicely made reproduction scope base (which covers the factory markings). The rifle is an early version as it is fitted with a rear sight that is graduated from 4-15 (400-1,500 meters) with anti-aircraft wings and inverted "v" front sight. Early pattern folding monopod on the middle barrel band, two piece stock with large drain hole, finger grooves, cupped buttplate and side mounted sling swivels. The bolt has been lengthened and bent down to resemble an original sniper bolt. Fitted with an original late war fixed four power scope that is marked "4 X 7/ IAKATIHO/No 11920", with the locking mechanism on the lower base and stamped with rifle serial number "9352" on the back side. With an original WWII green canvas scope case with the carrying strap.

Fine overall as assembled with reproduction scope mount base. Professionally refinished with 98% of the blue finish with minor edge wear. The stock is very fine with its original WWII finish showing minor handling marks, scratches and light pressure dents from field use. The scope retains 95% of its original black painted exterior with original markings. The optics are clear with a few minor specks and the reticle is distinct. The scope case is very good with 90% of the green exterior finish overall showing wear and finish loss on the lid and corners. The carrying strap is also very fine. A nice representative example of scarce WWII Japanese rifle.
