World War II Production John Ek Type 5 "Navy" Commando Knife with Sheath, Vintage Box and Manual

Produced during the Second World War, the Number Five knife was described in Ek's published material as being equipped with an oversized "bolo" handle which would cause the blade to sink in a pommel-up, zig-zag fashion, reportedly making it easier to recover the knife before it gets too deep to grab. 12 1/2 inches overall, with a 7 inch clip point blade marked "John Ek KNIFE/HAMDEN" and "5G280" on the left side of the blade, and a smooth contoured maple handle with signature poured lead rivets. Included with the knife is a vintage Commando Knife box, labeled "Manufactured By Permission of The War Production Board", and a copy of the 1944 vintage text "YOUR SILENT PARTNER", half knife-fighting manual, half Ek catalog.

Knife is very good, with some minor spotting on the bright blade and light handling marks overall. The box is fair with scuffs and tape repairs. The manual is very good, with some staple rust and edge wear.
