World War II Mauser "byf" Code "41" Date P.08 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, Attributed to the Allied Invasion of Southern France

Fixed sights, with "41" on the chamber and "byf" on the toggle. "Eagle/655" marked extension and barrel, with firing proofs on the extension, barrel and breechblock, and "P.08" on the frame. Magazine unmarked, otherwise the external numbers match. Checkered grips, with blue finished plastic base magazine. With a pair of capture certificates listing a "Luger" to a T5 Ralph Dallas, and an unsigned hand written note, presumably from T5 Dallas, stating that this pistol was procured during Operation Dragoon, the Allied invasion of Southern France.

Manufacture: Mauser
Model: P08
BBL: 4 inch round

Gauge: 9 mm
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 7926u

Very good, with 50% of the much faded original blue finish, showing areas of gray patina and scattered spotting and handling marks. Shallow pitting is visible on the barrel. Grips are also very good, with mild dents, flat spots and verdigris buildup. The magazine base is chipped and cracked. Mechanically very good.
