World War II Japanese Nagoya Type 44 Bolt Action Cavalry Carbine

This is a mid-production, Series 1, Type 44 Carbine as manufactured by the Nagoya Arsenal. The Type 44 Carbine was introduced in 1911 specifically for cavalry use and was used throughout WWII. The top of the receiver is marked with the Japanese Royal Chrysanthemum which has been penned, not ground, over the Kana markings for "44/Type". The receiver is correctly marked on the left side wall with the series mark serial number 1882 and the Nagoya arsenal mark. The carbine has the late third (long type) front barrel band/bayonet lug and is correctly fitted with an original 13 1/2 inch triangular shaped bayonet. It has the standard milled trigger guard floor plate and barrel band. It is fitted with the short staff rear sight and inverted "v" front sight with guards and has the standard stock and hand guard and a flat steel buttplate with the small storage compartment.

Very fine with 90% of the blue finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots and top of the receiver. The bolt is still in its original "in the white" factory polished finish. The stock and hand guard are both excellent with nice Nagoya Arsenal proofs on the underside.
