This is a standard WWII production British Enfield No 4 MK 1 sniper rifle with the scope, mount, metal can and wooden storage case. These rifles were the standard British sniper rifle developed in the late 1930s and used until the early 1960s, with approximately 26,000 made in total. The left side of the wrist is marked "M47C/1944/D31519/TR". The rifle is fitted with the standard blade front sight and tangent military rear sight. It has the wartime semi-pistol grip stock, pot-metal buttplate, butt trap compartment and a screw on wooden cheekpiece. It has the full-length forestock and top handguards. The buttstock and forend both have the correct proof and acceptance marks. The forestock is correctly numbered to the rifle. The rifle scope is marked "TEL. SIGHTING/No. 32 Mk.3/O.S. 2039A/No 24237". The mount does not have a maker mark or proof and scope rings are stamped on the top and bottom half, "274" and "275" respectively. This sniper rifle is complete with one original box magazine, a set of leather scope caps, stamped "BLGL 1945", a No 8 metal scope can dated 1941 with the scope number repainted on the front of the can and an original No 15 Mk I wooden storage case. The original equipment label is glued on the underside of the lid and the rifle serial number has also been hand painted on the underside of the lid.
