World War II Enfield No. 4 MKI (T) Sniper Rifle Complete with Scope, Mount, Metal Scope Can and Wooden Storage Chest

This is a late WWII production British Enfield No 4 MK 1 (T) sniper rifle with the scope, mount, metal can and wooden storage chest. These rifles were the standard British sniper rifle developed in the late 1930s and used until the early 1960s, with approximately 26,000 made in total. The left side of the buttsocket is marked "M47C/1944/G37380/TR". The rifle is fitted with a blade front sight and adjustable tangent military rear sight. It has the wartime semi-pistol grip stock, pot-metal buttplate with butt trap compartment with a screw on wooden cheekpiece. It has the full-length forestock and top handguards. The buttstock and forend both have the correct British acceptance proofs with the forend correctly numbered to the rifle with the underside of the buttstock marked "S51" indicating conversion at holland and Holland. The rifle is fitted with a late model No 32 MK3 scope that is marked "TEL. SIGHTING/No. 32 Mk.3/O.S. 2039A/No 21888". The matching mount has a N92 makers mark on the front end and is numbered G37080 on the upper rear corner. The scope rings are stamped on the top and bottom half, respectively "T249" and "T250". This sniper rifle is complete with one original box magazine, a set of original leather scope caps, that have a single British Broad Arrow stamp on the rear cap and a No 8 metal scope can. The can is numbered on the outside to match the rifle and has three different labels indicating that that the rifle and scope were inspected, repackaged/sealed in Jan 1962. Inside the can is a second label that also indicates that this can is numbered to this scope and rifle. This rig is complete with original No 15 Mk I wooden storage case. The case shows much storage wear and handling from being in the British storage depot over the years with some repainting of the outside, with the original equipment label is still glued on the underside of the lid.

The Scope and mount retain 95% of the arsenal blue/black finish overall with flaking and minor scratching on the rear of the scope ocular end. The rifle has matching numbers to include the scope, mount and bolt assembly. The scope can is in very good condition having been repainted by the British at some with the original labels as noted above still intact/taped on the outside of the can. The wooden storage box is in fine condition overall, showing some old repairs with touch up paint with clear markings numbered to a different rifle. The corners and edges show wear and finish loss with a minor section of wood missing on the lid. Mechanically excellent condition.
