This Model 1911A1 Automatic Pistol was manufactured by Colt Firearms in early 1944. The right side of the receiver has the Ordnance escutcheon stamped behind the grip panel with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and the serial number roll-stamped in two lines behind the slide stop hole. "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" is roll stamped in front of the slide stop hole. The left side of the frame has the final U.S. Army Ordnance final inspection mark "G.H.D." below the slide stop and a "P" proof mark is stamped behind the magazine release. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block, the Rampant Colt trademark and "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." in two lines. The barrel is blued and stamped "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower left side of the chamber and "P" on the left side of the barrel lug. The trigger is stamped with a knurled face. The slide stop and thumb safety lock are checkered and the main spring housing is arched and serrated with eight grooves and it is fitted with the checkered wide spur hammer. The grips have the large reinforcing rings around the screws and interior strengthening rib and mold numbers. The slide has the mid-late WWII production front sight blade with serrated face and is correctly not serial numbered. The top of the slide is stamped with a "P" proof mark between the rear sight and the ejection port. Complete with one magazine with blued finish and stamped with "L" on the top of the floor plate lip. Additionally this pistol has British proof markings and "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" stamped on the right side of the frame and on the slide behind the ejection port. The chamber of the barrel has a series of three British proofs, and the slide is marked on the right side next to the finger serrations "RELEASED/BRITISH GOVT. 1952". Also, there is a non-factory number "447467" lightly electro-penciled on the front left side of the slide and frame.

Condition: Very fine as partially refinished, with 90% finish on the frame. The slide has been wiped with cold blue finish, showing some minor edge wear. The grips are excellent showing some minor handling with sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
