Produced in 1939. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with "dsh 7 40 Pi" marked near the breech of the barrel, along with 2 "WaA655" (Mauser) stamps on the right side near the rear sight, and "eagle/ 214" (Berlin-Lubecker) three times on the right side of the receiver ring, along with the "237/ 1939" makers mark and "Mod.98" in block letters on the sidewall. Matching numbers on the front band, barrel, receiver, takedown catch, bolt components, floor plate, buttplate and stock. Milled bands and trigger guard, with the front band stamped "WaA63". Rare "elm" stock, with "eagle/ 280" on the underside, a faint eagle proof on the right side behind the washer, and a cupped buttplate. Fitted with a brown leather sling and a 1939 dated Horster (Solingen) bayonet, 9 7/8" blade, numbered 9319, with matching sheath.

Condition: German Waffenmeister (armorer) rebuilt with a new barrel, with 90% of the arsenal blue finish, showing a few areas of brown spotting, light handling marks. Some pitting is visible on the extractor and rear barrel band. Stock is very good, with some chipping and scuffs from the sling hardware on the left side next to the receiver, a few cracks at the butt, and scattered scuffs and scratches. Sling shows mild cracking, and the bayonet is very good. Mechanically excellent.
