World War I German Army 1917 Dated DWM Artillery Luger

This is a nice late WWI Imperial German Army Artillery Luger manufactured by the DWM factory in 1917. The chamber as noted is dated 1917, with the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle. These Lugers have the distinctive 8 inch barrel with the tangent rear sight graduated 1-8 (100-800 meters) with this one produced late enough in that it does not have the fine tune sights. The Luger has standard markings and proofs overall with military style serial numbers with the full serial number on the barrel, frame and barrel extension, with the partial numbers on the various small parts. It has the standard "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" marked upper safety are and extractor, and is fitted with correct grips. It is complete with a WWI nickel plated magazine with the wooden base that is stamped "1275/+".

Very fine with 90% of the blued finish overall with edge and high spot wear with blue loss on the side plate hump and muzzle area. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides with handling marks with minor nicks on the tops of some of the checkered diamonds. Mechanically excellent. The small parts retain 75% of their straw colors overall. It has matching numbers on the various parts except the magazine and one grip.
