Workingmen, Read! Broadside, 1888, 5 x
Workingmen, Read! Broadside, 1888, 5 x 9, exhorting, "Workmen, Vote for Your Friend." Urging workers to vote for Luther F. McKinney, whose support of labor has been "earnest, active and untiring" as stated by John J. O'Neill, Chairman, Committee on Labor in the House. His opponent in the Farmington First District is Hon. Alonzo F. Nute, a shoe manufacturer who refuses to pay his workers for a 60 hour week, although they work 59 hours, the "extra" hour being allowed to stop work on Saturdays at 5 P.M. rather than 6. He is therefore breaking the new law of paying by the week. "Do the working men want to elect such a man to represent them in Congress?" Left margin somewhat ragged, with no loss of text, else fine and scarce.
