Working in America. Group of five manus
Working in America. Group of five manuscript documents, 1 page each, from Ohio, Mass., and Conn., 1733-1822 for: 1) Housewright (carpenter) acquiring land in Ohio, 1803. 2) Tanner receives free rent in return for clearing land, 1742. A very early reference to this trade in the colonies. 3) Eight tavern keepers in Norwich, Conn. are listed, signed by several officials, 1733-34. 4) Blacksmith shop is leased to another blacksmith for one year, 1822. 5) Innholder license, 1822, Newburyport, Mass., granted by John Ladd because he is a "person of sober life and conversation." About fine to very fine. Delightful Americana.
