<B>Woonsocket, SD</B></I> - $20 1882 Value Back Fr. 584a <B>The First NB</B></I> Ch. # (W)5946<BR> This is an extraordinary note for several different reasons. So often, signature rarities on National Bank Notes occur on examples from otherwise common banks. That is emphatically not the case here, as this is both an extremely rare signature combination and a rare South Dakota item as well. We know of only two Fr 584a examples extant, both from this bank and both identical in grade, with each a nice pen signed <B>Extremely Fine</B></I> specimen. They are the only two notes reported bearing this title. This piece has been off the market since Tom obtained it twelve years ago, while the other specimen was last offered in 2003, when it realized $9200. It would not surprise us at all to see this note, which is simply listed as "Rare" and unpriced in the Friedberg catalogue, to reach or exceed...<BR><I>From The Thomas M.
