Signed book: The President’s War Message Delivered at a Joint Session of the Two Houses of Congress, April 2, 1917. NY: Edward J. Clode, 1917. Hardcover, 4 x 6, 47 pages. Signed in ink on the first free end page, “Woodrow Wilson.” Book is housed in a custom clamshell box and slipcase. In fine condition, with some light soiling and fraying to covers. Slipcase shows scattered light wear and rubbing, and light surface wear and spots to spine of slipcase. Wilson’s speech forcefully outlined his reasons for supporting America’s entry into World War I; four days later, on April 6, the United States declared war on Germany. An unusual item of high historical significance!
