Featured in this lot is this Central-Western Great Lakes Woodlands Meskwaki (also referred to as Mesquaki or the Fox / Sauk and Fox) Indian burl wood bowl circa 1790-1850's. The Great Lakes burl wood bowl shows a carved design with whorls and polished knots consistent with burl wood; the bowl features two brass tacks set into the inside of the bowl handle. The bowl has high walls with a ridged rib. The condition of this bowl is good with no obvious signs of damage and otherwise in good overall condition. The measurements of this bowl are 3 1/2" x 9" x 8 7/8". Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. Identification#: E1027.
