<B>Wooden Sarcophagus Fragment</B></I> <BR>Egypt. <BR>Middle Kingdom, 12th dynasty, ca. 1891-1859 B.C.<BR>15-1/4" x 5-7/8".<BR>A cedar wood veneer fragment, probably from an interior lining of a large Egyptian sarcophagus having a partial inscription from the Book of the Dead, with six characters painted in black, contained in a central register. Perforated with several small holes for attachment. Some loss to the midsection and tight wood splits.
