Wonderful delicate primitive root head knot decoy ca 1890-1900 probably from North Carolina. In strong original paint that is simple but effective with gray on the body and head and red on the breast. Struck by a few shot. Head will separate from the body. Old tiny worm holes are inactive. This example came out of a Duxbury collection that was put together back in the 40's and 50's. Many of the decoys were acquired directly from Bill Mackey. This is the real thing so take a good look at the surface as it should look. Hundreds of these two-piece primitives have been carved and chemically aged in the last few decades. (decoy)

<BR><p>3 - All sales are final except that refunds will be made on lots found to be other than described in this catalog. However, an intention of return must be expressed to the auctioneers within 14 days after you have received your decoy. The decoys need not be returned within 14 days but we must be notified within 14 days of your intention to return them.

<BR><p>4 - The Auctioneers reserve the right to reject any opening bid or bid advance not commensurate with the value of the article being offered.

<BR><p>5 - The Auctioneers reserve the right to withdraw any lot at any time prior to the commencement of bidding for the lot.

<BR><p>6 - Some of the lots are subject to a reserve, which is the confidential minimum price below wich such lot may not be sold. The Auctioneers may implement reserves by bidding on behalf of the consignor.

<BR><p>7 - The highest bidder acknowledged by the Auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of a dispute between bidders, the Auctioneer shall have the sole discretion as to who was the successful bidder or he may re-offer the disputed item at his discretion.

<BR><p>8 - Full payment of each purchaser’s account must be received on the day of the sale. Payment must be made by cash or check, unless other arrangements have been made at least two hours prior to the auction.

Personal checks will be accepted only if the Auctioneers have received a bank authorization guaranteeing funds or other credit references are provided. The Auctioneers reserve the right to hold merchandise purchased by personal check until the check clears the bank, if the Auctioneers regards such action necessary to protect their interests.

<BR><p>10 - All shipping and packaging expense shall be borne by the purchaser. If for any reason a purchased lot cannot be delivered in as good condition as at the time of the sale or should the lot be stolen prior to delivery, the Auctioneers shall not be liable for any amount in excess of that paid by the purchaser.
