?Women in Parlor? is a beautiful print of an antique engraving depicting two Victorian women conversing in a lovely parlor area. Their beautiful dresses fill the composition with the softly shimmering fabric of their voluminous skirts and capes. The intricate details of the period garb were rendered with great skill from the delicate lace of their bonnets to their fine bracelets and tiny glimpse of the crinoline beneath the skirt of the woman on the right. The bold horizontal pattern of the woman on the left?s dress is characteristic of the styles of the mid- late 1800?s. The original engraving appears to have been hand colored with deep emerald in the horizontal stripes of the dress as well as touches of gold and yellows. The dress of the woman on the right was colored with a deep blue-black giving a tiny hint of color in the depths of the fabrics folds. The print has been matted in dusty blue and was mounted in a simple, medium brown frame bringing the total dimensions of the piece to 17? x 22.? It is truly a gorgeous period image that would be a wonderful and affordable addition to any collection of Victorian artwork.
