The subject's left hand rests on a large eagle's wing, and her right hand holds aloft a chalice. Her long wavy hair flows sinuously past her waist. Her eyes are slightly closed. The eagle appears alert; its feathers are beautifully expressed, as are its talons.
Born in Sommervoire, France on April 3, 1859, Drouot studied in Paris under Emile Thomas and Mathurin Moreau, working as both a genre painter and sculptor. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1889, and was awarded a medal at the Salon of 1892. Drouot won an honorable mention at the Universal Exposition of 1900. A variety of themes and a remarkable sense of movement characterize his body of work. Considered an outstanding member of the sculpture community at the end of the 19th century, Drouot's Salon entries encompassed sporting and hunting scenes, exotic Eastern subjects, mythological figures, whimsical allegories, and nymphs.

Shipping: Requires 3rd Party Shipping (view shipping information)
