Woman in the Moon (UFA International, 1929). Stills (13) (8" X 10"). "Metropolis" director Fritz Lang pilots this early sci-fi epic which follows the mission of a scientist who believes that there is gold on the Moon. He assembles a rocket ship crew to prove his theory. This film marks several cinematic firsts including the first countdown to launch of a rocket. Not just the first one in a movie, but the first ever: it was invented as a dramatic device for the film. Also depicted for the first time are the use of liquid rocket fuel, a rocket with two stages and zero gravity in space. These gorgeous black and white stills have minor corner dings. There is a small amount of paper loss on one of the cards but the others are all in remarkable condition with the UFA logo in the lower left corner. These stills are certainly a rare find, especially in this condition. Very Fine+.
