TLS signed “Your friend, Winston S. Churchill,” one page, 7.5 x 9.5, Hyde Park Gate letterhead, May 4, 1950. Letter to editor and publisher Desmond Flower, in full: "Thank you for your letter of April 24. I am glad to know that the volumes are to be available to the Reprint Society. You do not state in paragraph 2 the price you are selling the book to them, or the price at which they are selling the book to their members." In fine condition. Desmond Flower (1907–1997) was the longtime editor and director at London's Cassell & Co., a publishing house that released numerous collected speeches by Churchill, in addition to two of his most enduring works: the six-volume The Second World War, and the four-volume A History of the English-Speaking Peoples. In 1950, the Reprint Society published The Gathering Storm, which served as the first volume of The Second World War. The company would continue to publish the book series over the next six years.
