TLS as prime minister, signed “Yours sincerely, Winston S. Churchill,” one page, 7.5 x 9.5, 10 Downing Street, Whitehall letterhead, July 5, 1952. Letter to editor and publisher Desmond Flower, in full: "Thank you very much for your letter of July 1, and for the cheque you enclosed. I would much like to see the proofs of Closing the Ring, if you could send them to me. When is the book coming out over here." Churchill edits the text and adds the date in his own hand. In fine condition, with secretarial notations to upper left. Desmond Flower (1907–1997) was the longtime editor and director at London's Cassell & Co., a publishing house that released numerous collected speeches by Churchill, in addition to two of his most enduring works: the six-volume The Second World War, and the four-volume A History of the English-Speaking Peoples; published in 1951, Closing the Ring was the title of the fifth volume of The Second World War.
