Winston Churchill TLS
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Winston Churchill document signed as President of the Board of Trade, dated 11 June 1908. The young Churchill, no doubt besieged with favor requests in this powerful position, writes to Sir Edward Russell, Editor of the Liverpool Daily Post. In full, ''I have received your two letters about Mr. Chute, and I am sorry that the holidays have prevented me sending an earlier answer. The officials under the Port of London Bill will be appointed by Port Authority, but, as you say, the question of appointments will not arise just yet. When it does, I am afraid that the Board of Trade will have no say in the matter. I will bear in mind Mr. Chute's wish for appointment under this office, but I am afraid I do not know of any present opening. Yours very truly / Winston S. Churchill''. Two page document measures 4'' x 7'', beautifully matted with a photo of the Prime Minister to an overall size of 15'' x 18''. Near fine condition.
