<B>Winfield Scott: A Spectacular Daguerreotype of an Engraving Depicting Scott and his White Stallion.</B></I> The heroic image dates from the Mexican War era, and depicts Scott in his prime. This arresting image may date from that time or from his 1852 Whig presidential candidacy. Scott campaign items, outside of a few common brass tokens, are highly elusive. Accordingly, collectors tend to relax their standards a bit for this tough candidate, and include in their collections items which are clearly "period", but not necessarily identifiable as campaign items. This large dag is in beautiful condition and a prize addition to the most sophisticated collection. Housed in an unusual thermoplastic case with high relief monument image.
