Winfield Scott: A Rare Large Daguerreotype Showing Him in an Uncommon Pose This is a photo of a highly detailed engraving, showing Scott in his General's uniform. It may have been made to honor him as a Mexican War hero or in connection with his 1852 Whig presidential candidacy. Like other presidential candidates of this era, his campaign items are quite rare but for a few common token varieties. Accordingly, most political collectors welcome items from the Mexican War era; indeed one might argue that this notoriety spawned the birth of his political campaign. A striking portrait in superb condition, measuring 2.25" x 2.75" (image only). The embossed leatherette case shows typical surface wear and the lid is separated at the hinge. From the Stanley King collection.

Shipping: Small Collectibles (view shipping information)
