Winchester model 70 XTR sporter, .300 Weatherby magnum, fully and finely exhibition quality engraved and gold inlaid, serial #G1834847. This is believed to be one of a number of high grade Winchesters made for factory exhibitions bought by Robert Petersen. The rifle shows fancy flush gold inlays which highlight the barrel address, Winchester trademark, serial number, and border finely executed scroll engraving which extends on to the barrel and there is a gold high relief inlay of mountain sheep on floorplate. The grip cap is also flush gold inlaid, the rifle is stocked in select burl walnut with fancy checkering and shows a fancy type English pad. The bolt and follower are engine turned, the rifle is beautifully finished in royal blue and remains in fine to excellent condition showing just some slight handling and no evidence of firing. The rear of the triggerplate is signed by the engraver HMD. A very fine and beautiful rifle. From the Robert Petersen Collection. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
