Winchester model 70 XTR Sporter, .25-06 Remington caliber, serial #G1777154. We believe this to be a factory custom workshop special edition which was one of a group made for Carl Press and purchased by RobertPetersen, but no identification on the gun to this effect. The rifle shows a 24” round barrel. The action is nicely engraved with geometrics and scrolls. The floorplate and triggerguard is engraved, high relief goldinlaid, and satin finished. The center portion of the floorplate shows an antelope in gold, surrounded by gold bordered edges. The barrel is gold-banded at breech and muzzle. The gun is stocked in a light colored walnut or maple with flaming grain, fleur de lis checkering, select rosewood cap, steel buttplate with checkered inset wood panel, engraved outline. The engraver’s signature S. Huff-Engr beneath the top buttplate screw(sneaky). The action is factory jeweled as is the follower. The gun is royal blued with high polish finish.
