Winchester model 1894 lever-action rifle, .30-30 caliber, 26” round barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, old custom stock with cheekpiece and grained carving. Serial #15004, made approx. 1896. The barrel andmagazine tube show 80-90% original blue that is evenly drifting and toning with some patina. The markings are sharp, the edges fairly crisp, the forend cap is an old refinish, the frame shows 30-40% driftingblue, the balance a patina. The stocks are well made old gunsmith replacements with a nicely detailed small cheekpiece and grained or roughed panels that represent bark for gripping that is very nicely accomplished.The stocks look to be turn of the century and show good quality with some scratches, dings, mars, and have been with the rifle a long while, probably its entire life. The action is good, bore very good. The sightsare in their correct dovetails. Hard to find these early 94’s that were marketed as the Klondike Rifle and went North to Alaska in droves.
