Winchester model 1886 lever-action rifle, 28” octagon barrel, full magazine, crescent butt, set trigger, .45-65 caliber, blue and case hardened finish, serial #42782, received in warehouse June 20th, 1890, shipped June20th, 1899, order #13681. With factory letter confirming features. We believe this to be a factory error in the letter, as it was surely not held nine years and shipped on the exact same day. Letter most probably shouldbe corrected as shipped June 20th 1890. The rifle remains in fine to excellent condition showing 92-97% original blue just starting to tone, age slightly, with some minimal erosion just starting and a few scratches but generally very bright with razor sharp edges and crisp barrel address. The left side of the frame shows 75-85% strong case hardening with still fiery rainbow colors, just a thumb-size area of erosion just below theframe screw and some normal aging. The right side of the frame is excellent with 90-95% fiery case hardening showing a great deal of its original factory lacquer over the case hardening. The tang shows 90% bright case
