Winchester model 1885 highwall sporting rifle, .38 Express caliber, 30 inch #3 octagon barrel, traces of blue and case hardened finish drifted to patina, standard wood stocks with crescent butt, serial#17468. The barrel and frame show 10-20% original finish mixed with a browning patina, some spotting, erosion, pinprick pitting, normal aging. The edges are fairly sharp on the barrel, the barrel address and calibermarking are crisp. The original rear sight is retained in its proper dovetail. The front sight shows an old blade replacement in the original base. The stocks are good to very good with small dings, mars, a slight crackat the rear of the tang, normal aging. The action is tight, the bore is fair to good with some erosion in the chamber. A scarce highwall in this unusual caliber. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
