Winchester model 1885 high wall single-shot rifle, .40-90 Sharps straight caliber, #4 heavy-weight 30” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, standard wood stocks with crescent butt, single set trigger,serial #41815. The barrel shows 30-50% evenly drifting and toning blue finish with some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting, some scratches at the edges and normal aging, drifting to patina. The barrel address and caliber markings are good and clear. The frame shows 30-50% case hardening drifting to a silvery patina with some erosion, spotting, normal aging, and also some good colors where protected and some light colorson each side of frame. The stocks are good with some dings and mars around the buttplate. Some darkening from oiling and use on the butt. Some small age cracks and general wear. The forend is in bettercondition showing nice light color, with considerable original varnish. Buttstock appears to have been sanded slightly, oil finished as it is darker than the forend.
