Winchester model 1873 saddle ring carbine, .44-40 caliber, 20” barrel, considerable original blue finish with all features as standard on this model, serial #6862638. The barrel and magazine tube show 75-85% original blue that is still mostly bright, just beginning to age and tine with some light erosion just starting. The barrel address and caliber marking are still sharp. The edges are crisp and there is some very bright areas of blue. The frame shows 20-40% original blue drifting to patina with some scratches, normal aging, some light erosion and some marks from the saddle ring. The forend shows a coating of varnish but no sanding. Thebuttstock is good with some small dings, mars, scratches, and an excellent plug where a swivel was removed and is almost imperceptible. The loading gate shows most of its bright finish. The hammer and lever show considerable case hardening. The saddle-ring carbine sight, proper small parts, bands, all retained. The bore is bright.
